As the Town of Pittsboro prepares for future population growth, plans are progressing for a new Town Hall located on West Salisbury Street in downtown Pittsboro, NC. The complex will house the majority of current and future town staff and administrative operations over the next twenty years and will be shared with the Chatham County Board of Elections and Health Department Administration for the next ten years. Located in a transitional area between the downtown commercial district to the east and historic residential areas to the west, the building’s massing attempts to bridge this transition with familiar details, materials, and forms found in the downtown area.
While contextual in nature, the building also presents a completely modern aesthetic with large glass curtain walls, solar panels, and a large public art installation on the south side. Wholesale site infrastructure improvements are also planned, including a parking deck to address a parking shortage in downtown Pittsboro. The project is in design and is pursuing LEED Silver certification.
