Dennis A. Wicker Center

Sanford, NC - 10,000 Sq ft

The Dennis A. Wicker Center at Central Carolina Community College’s Main Campus in Sanford, NC was originally built in 1990, with limited renovations performed in the years since. The existing facility contained a large meeting room but lacked smaller classroom spaces. Furthermore, the original A/V systems, technology, lighting, and interior finishes were in need of updates.

Expanding the original building, a 10,000 square foot addition connects to the existing lobby by an open covered plaza.  The addition includes three break-out rooms, gallery & vendor spaces, and a teaching kitchen for the Culinary Arts Department.  A long, outdoor “porch” parallel to the interior gallery overlooks the large lawn that connect the addition to the new CCCC Health Sciences Building.  This outdoor space is utilized for outdoor events for the civic center.
